Our sailboat tied up to Ted's sailboat |
Since we're not working on the sailboat right now, we decided to take it out Sunday afternoon and motor around our neighborhood. The weather was gorgeous, and we just wanted to do something with the sailboat. We motored down the canal to our friend's place. Our friend, Ted, lives on his sailboat and also hopes to be a full-time cruiser in the near future. Ted keeps his boat at a vacant lot, which has electricity and water from the apartments next door. The perfect set up!
We were a little nervous about tying up to Ted's sailboat, as it was a pretty windy day and we're still learning. It took a few tries and Ted had to do most of the work, but both sailboats survived.

Ted n Kathy in "Squatter's Park" |
In Louisiana, you can't have a get-together without good food and spirits. We grabbed the charcoal and grilled burgers, sausage, and corn and washed it down with beer and wine.
Ted named his home "Ted's Island" and the barbecue area "Squatter's Park", which has already become the gathering spot for our friends. Jeff and his girlfriend, Kathy, spent the afternoon there as well. Some Van Morrison tunes on the way back home was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

Sounds like the perfect day to me. What fun. Good food and cocktails are always in the mix for us too. Boating and food just go together.
Thanks for sharing your great day. :)
Looks fun. We're looking forward to having a few of those days ourselves in the near future.

Mike, it sounds like you're well on your way to a lot of those days. You've earned it and I wish we were as far along as ya'll. And Sandee, your weekend on the dark island must have been great. Looking forward to hearing about it.
