After my crazy dream the other night, I started thinking more about dreams and their interpretations. Although I haven't spent much time on this subject, I do find it very interesting. I wondered what dreams about boats generally meant. Here's some of what I found at dreamtation.com ...
Dreams of boats are often described as life-affirming. Many interpreters of dreams see the boat for optimism and as a token for promising developments. Like other means of transportation, boats should sometimes also show phases of the crossing or the change.
With the sailboat it is the wind which promotes one. With the wind the strength of the intellect and the mind is symbolized, which drives the dreamer and furthers.
The boat stands for the life of the dreaming. It is a matter of paying attention to the state of the boat, on his driving ability and weathering. Also, the water conditions are very important.

I'm having a lot of 'boat' dreams just now, too. I had one the other night that was allegedly about a Swan40 we were looking at the next day, but it certainly was a 'dream' Swan40. More like a ship with huge spaces, and wide expanses of old wooden deck. It was a beautiful boat in my dream, but much more than we would be able to ever handle. One needed a crew on a boat like that. Dream interpretation is a specialty of mine in my professional life, so I like to pay attention to them. That dream was a reminder that I do so want a boat that is large enough to enjoy easily, one that has enough space, but I need to be careful not to get carried away by it unless I want a huge crew to be necessary. Fortunately, in the dream I loved the boat and enjoyed being on it, but I knew it was not the boat for me. In a fascinating aside, that boat had a chapel, complete with old wooden pews and stained glass. I told you it was a huge vessel!
Oh, and the Swan40, while nice, was a no go for us. Too narrow. It felt a bit like a submarine inside.
