Yesterday we had two positive things happen that made it a pretty good day for us. The first was the most fun, and the second was the most reassuring.
I'll start with the first, and the fun! Yesterday, I won two free tickets to see Eric Clapton next week ... woo hoo! While at work I have to have noise, which means I'm always listening to the radio. The local station has been giving away Eric Clapton tickets to "caller 8" for the past month and I've tried winning a lot during that time. Only once did I get through, and I was "caller 7" ... damn almost! Almost don't get ya tickets, so I kept trying. Yesterday, I was just about to quit calling when the phone actually started ringing and a guy answered, "Congratulations! You're caller eight"! I couldn't believe it, and I couldn't wait to call Ken and tell him the news. It was a pretty good way to start the day.
The second thing that happened really reassured us that we'll be okay and the world won't come crashing in on us ... we found a really nice couple to rent our vacant house! We've been really stressed about having it vacant for almost two months now, with no potential buyers and no rental applicants that we felt good about ... we don't wanna screw up this time! Last week we met an older couple with no kids at home that seem to be really responsible. We've interviewed a lot of people over the years, and we've never felt as good about a tenant as we do about this couple. I processed their application yesterday, we came to an agreement, and they're going to move in on April 1st. This means we won't have to pay the mortgage ourselves next month ... whew! We've been spending the past few Saturdays cleaning and painting, Ken and some help are out there today and tomorrow, and we'll be out there again the next couple of weekends to get everything ready. We're looking forward to April ... warmer weather and a break!
Although we're still trying to find a buyer for our house, yesterday was a step in the right direction. We're gonna think positive, and know that we'll sell our house soon.
I suddenly can't get "Lay Down Sally" outta my head!
Hasta luego ... until then. Mid-Life Cruising!

Way to go on those tickets. That rocks and then some.
Great on the rental too. I'm sure they will be wonderful tenants. I sure hope so because you've had a streak of ugly luck lately.
Have a terrific day. ☺
See, all that positive energy I sent your way worked! : )
I wish it worked on this water heater install.
It is so much fun to win tickets to a concert on the radio. Enjoy, as I'm sure you will and congratulations!
What a relief it is to rent your home. What a turn around. Bet it's helping things fall into place for you. It's interesting that when the time is right, things DO seem to work out that way.
I have the radio on at work as well at times. I do the call in contests occasionally and sometimes win. But never anything as great as your concert tickets. That is really fabulous. Congrats!!
That is super neat that you found some renters. It is so hard to find quality people to rent to anymore. That sure will be a great help and peace of mind!!
Kudos!

Congratulations! I missed this post during our move and did not know you'd found a tenant for your rental home. That is wonderful news and surely a load off your mind. Now to find a buyer for your home! Sending positive real estate thoughts your way!!!
I've never won a contest in my life! Good for you! I hope your renters work out, surely there has to be at least one responsible couple left in the world :-)
