Enjoying the view from my brother's back porch on Easter Sunday ...
This past week Ken and I have been in recovery mode from our daughter's wedding. Getting through the work week wasn't easy, especially since it was one of those all-too-often six-day work weeks. Ken and I were looking forward to a day of relaxation on Easter Sunday. We drove to my brother's place in the country (Mississippi), sat on the back porch, and enjoyed the perfect weather and serene views. Just like my dad and brother's cattle, we grazed all day. Is it wrong to grill burgers while watching the cattle being raised for beef?! Hmmm. By the end of the day the cattle were laid out on the grass, soaking up the sun. We were laid out on the lounge chairs doing the same. It was a day that all seemed to enjoy. We had some good quality time with my parents, my brother's family, and the "newlyweds" too! BTW, I hope to get some pictures of the wedding from the photographer soon to share with you. It was a one of a kind, true Southern wedding.
Of course, relaxation doesn't come easy for us. We weren't home ten minutes when we got a call from our tenant. The well wasn't working and they didn't have any water. Two hours later we were finally home at eight o' clock ... and I was sleeping by nine.
Perhaps next Easter we'll enjoy a different view ...
Today happens to be Earth Day, and I wrote a post this past weekend about all those planets that have been discovered recently and my thoughts about other life out there. Isn't it crazy that we were taught that there were only nine planets?! So much has changed so fast. I wonder if our life on this planet is a result of destroying some other planet? We'd better take better care of our Earth before it's too late.
Since I've written the post, I started wondering if any of you sailors have experienced anything UFO-like while on the water. If so, I'd love to hear about it!
Hasta luego ... until then. Mid-Life Cruising!

Hi, this isn't exactly a UFO story but strange none the less and I have no explanation for it. Last summer I, along with three friends delivered a 33ft Moody sailing boat from St Malo in France too St Valerie en Caux on the Normandy coast - 200 nautical miles 48 hours voyage. On the second evening at about 2 am we were well out to sea, at least 30 miles from land with no other vessels in sight when we all caught the smell of frying potatoes - chips!
I wrote about it in my blog 'Simple Sailing Low Cost Cruising' - lavillemain blogspot
