Ever feel like this cartoon? Instead of running all over town trying to find gifts for loved ones, how about the internet? Online shopping has increased tremendously the past few years, and I can see why. I've never been one to enjoy shopping, and a quick trip through the mall at Christmas to take in the sights of Santa and the decorations is enough for me. In fact, I don't know if I'll even venture that far this year.
If you're like me and prefer to shop online, then maybe you'll find my "wish list" helpful. We're not cruising yet, but I'd think that the stuff I want is desired by any boating enthusiast. Since I'm "wishing" some of these items are pricey, and some are not. So here are a few ideas ... are you listening Santa?!
Drones are the latest craze, and wouldn't it be cool to have one when sailing?! I can't claim to know much about them, but this drone looks good to me. Don't fly it within 15 miles of the White House! I know Santa won't be spending this kinda money on me, but as with most electronics I'm figuring the price of drones will continue to drop. Maybe next year Santa?
I've been wanting a GoPro for a few years, and this GoPro Hero4 Holiday Bundle would be great to have when cruising. I can't wait to sail with dolphin and catch lobster ... one of these cameras would be awesome to capture it!
I hate our fluffy towels at home .. they don't dry us off worth a crap! I've been reading the praises of other cruisers about Turkish towels, which are supposed to be really absorbent. This 6-pack is on sale, and at just over $10 a piece sounds like a deal to me.
Many cruisers have also praised the Delorme Inreach Explorer, which I REALLY want! This little device operates over the Iridium satellite network & tracks your position. It also allows the ability to text and email messages. This is a great safety device!
I really appreciate the opinion of those actually out there cruising, and the inflatable Tower Paddle Board gets rave reviews. I'd like two of these, but beggars can't be choosers ...
How about this collapsible funnel as a stocking stuffer?
Speaking of collapsible stuff, a set of collapsible bowls and measuring cups would be great on our small boat.
Here's a great little gift for that guy or gal that enjoys a cold beer on the boat! Just freeze the stainless steel rod, insert it into a bottle, and it instantly gets cold .. and stays cold. I really want these too!
In my pre-teens, I took three years of guitar lessons. My eighty-something year old teacher was not inspiring .. teaching me stuff like "Down in the Valley" and "My Darling Clementine". As I got into my teenage years, I found other things to distract me and never touched a guitar again. I regret that I didn't find another teacher and stay with the guitar. Since buying Nirvana I've been wanting to learn to play the ukulele, and this starter pack sounds pretty good. Watch out "Tiny Tim"!
I have long hair that I can't bear cutting short, so I'd love these soft headbands to keep my hair in place and absorb moisture at the same time.
One more thing for the guy onboard ... just joking, but maybe you're guy would love this!
There are quite a few Christmas lists from cruisers this year, and all of them that I've seen have some great ideas. Consider purchasing something from our site or someone else's ... you'll also be giving us a little gift by allowing us to make a few cents on your purchase, with no extra cost to you!
Hasta luego ... and Happy Shopping!*
Mid-Life Cruising!
*Here's our Christmas gift list from past years ... looks like I missed 2014.

Okay, I need to wash my eyes out with bleach after looking at that mankini. Good grief. As for the boating stuff...awesome.
Have a terrific day. ☺
I can't un-see that last one! :) Hope Santa is good to you this year. That Inreach sounds pretty good. We're trying to make a decision on that.
Hi Cheryl and Ken,
Hope you guys have a great Xmas. Next year you will be on the water in some exotic location. All the best.
Alan
Hi Cheryl,
Thanks for the comment on the blog and thanks for reading! I did want to mention that you can get a good action camera for much less then the Go Pro. I use an SJ4000 made by SJcam. I love the thing! You can find it on Amazon for 90 bucks. I've done underwater stuff and it works great. Just thought I'd let you know that there is an alternative...Here's the Amazon link...
